THREE OF NEW YORK CITY'S TOP MUSICIANS COMING TOGETHER FOR "CHILDREN'S JOY FUND" BENEFIT - WILL RAISE MONEY FOR ART THERAPY PROGRAM AT LOCAL CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL

Jamie Lidell, Forro In The Dark, Didi Gutman of Brazilian Girls to Perform at March 25th Benefit for the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore Medical Center

NEW YORK, NY, March 12, 2010 — The Leaders Journey 2 (LJ2) of Consulting & Educational Center of NY (CECNY) is hosting the first Children’s Joy Fund event, bringing an eclectic group of New York City’s top musicians together for a night at The Box on the Lower East Side of Manhattan on Thursday, March 25 at 8:00 pm in support of the Children's Hospital at Montefiore Medical Center. The event will feature versatile electronic/soul musician Jamie Lidell, the sensational New York City rock band Forro In The Dark, and a DJ set by Dj Sid Vaga as well as Didi Gutman, keyboardist of the critically acclaimed and Grammy nominated Brazilian Girls.

LJ2 is raising money to benefit The Phoebe H. Stein Child Life Program of The Children’s Hospital at Montefiore and the patients who participate in its Creative Arts Therapies programs – which has helped tens of thousands of children since its inception in the 1970’s. This critically important initiative includes a number of successful programs:

  • Musicians On Call – brings live and recorded music to the bedsides of children to promote and complement the healing process for patients, families, and caregivers.

  • Beads of Courage – provides arts-in-medicine programs for children with serious illnesses.

  • Medical play teaching dolls, puppets, and equipment – helps young patients begin to understand their medical treatment and cope with their fears.

Children fighting for their lives against sickness and disease will find their greatest allies in those who are aware of and support their struggle. Through this Children's Joy Fund event, LJ2 seeks to lighten up what is often a dark moment in the lives and families of children with a fun-filled evening of music in the heart of New York City. The music and activities for the evening are upbeat and friendly.
